Abstract

The Research on the formulation  of the growth and formation of white oyster mushroom fruit bodies on empty oil palm fruit bunch waste and sawdust media has been carried out. at the Tadulako Mushroom Garden and the microbiology laboratory of the Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Can there are two ingredients be a good source of nutrition for white oyster mushrooms? The research was designed in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of seven treatments and three replications. The treatment composition is a comparison between  empty oil palm fruit bunches (EFB) and sawdust ; P1: without EFB, sawdust 100%g ;  P2: EFB 25%  + sawdust 75% ; P3: EFB 10% + sawdust 90%  ; P4: EFB 15% + sawdust 85% ; P5  : EFB 20% + sawdust 80%; P6: EFB 25% + sawdust 75%; P7: EFB 30% + sawdust 70%  . The Each treatment was added with 9% rice bran + 1% lime + 500 ml water. The parameters observed were mycelium growth on the baglog, mycelium incubation period until it filled the baglog, incubation period until pinheads appeared, number of pinheads, incubation period until fruit bodies were formed, number of fruit bodies, fruit body morphology, fresh weight of fruit bodies and dry weight of fruit bodies. The results of observations based on parameters show that sawdust and empty oil palm bunch waste can be used as a growth medium and for the formation of white oyster mushroom fruit bodies, the best treatment is treatment P5 (sawdust 400g + EFB 100g), with an average dry weight of the fruit body of 79g.
